Laparoscopic ovarian drilling

Laparoscopic ovarian drilling is second line treatment for women with polycystic ovaries who do not respond to hormonal therapy. It is a surgical treatment wherein multiple (usually 4-5) holes are made in the ovary with electrocautery device inserted through one of the small incisions.

Drilling the ovaries, destroys the stromal tissue which produces excess male hormones (androgens) and corrects the hormonal imbalance. Ovarian drilling may make your menses more regular and helps you to conceive. Possible risks of decrease in egg reserve has to be discussed.
